What cameras does NVRblink work with?+
Any camera that supports ONVIF and RTSP — this covers most Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, TP-Link, and IMOU devices, among others. ONVIF compliance varies by brand and firmware, so results can vary, but the Test Connection feature will tell you exactly which stage fails if a camera won't connect.
My camera failed Test Connection — where do I start?+
Test Connection runs through stages in order — TCP reachability, ONVIF service response, authentication, media profile discovery, and RTSP negotiation — and tells you which one failed. "Unreachable" usually means a wrong IP/port or a firewall; "authentication failed" means the username/password is wrong; a profile or RTSP failure often means ONVIF needs enabling in the camera's own settings first.
Do you need my WiFi credentials to add a camera?+
No. NVRblink only talks to cameras that are already on your network. Camera brands that use a phone app with QR-code or Bluetooth WiFi pairing (common on consumer cloud cameras) need to be joined to your network using that app first — NVRblink can't replicate that proprietary pairing step.
Where are my recordings stored?+
Wherever you configure in Settings — a folder on your own machine or attached storage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Does remote viewing require port forwarding?+
The remote access feature is off by default. If you turn it on and want to view from outside your home network, you're responsible for exposing it (e.g. via router port forwarding) — NVRblink doesn't do this automatically, and we don't operate any relay servers on your behalf.
Is there a Windows installer yet?+
Not yet — NVRblink is in active development. Check the Versions page for progress, or get in touch to be notified when a packaged installer is available.
