Hostnames

A memorable nvrblink.co.uk address for reaching your cameras remotely — instead of a raw IP address you have to look up and remember.

Never lose access when your IP changes

Most home internet connections don't have a fixed IP address — your ISP reassigns it from time to time, often without any warning. Whatever you'd written down or bookmarked quietly stops working, and you don't find out until you actually need to check a camera and can't.

The NVRblink Windows app keeps track of your current public IP and automatically updates your hostname the moment it changes, using a private key held only by your own installation. Your address always points at the right place — you never have to notice, let alone fix it.

How ordering works

01

Sign in to your account

Your NVRblink account is created during Windows setup. Sign in at nvrblink.co.uk and open the Hostnames tab in your account portal.

02

Choose your name

Pick whatever's memorable — yourhouse.nvrblink.co.uk, for example. We check it's available and create the address on our own domain right away.

03

That's it

Use your new address anywhere you'd normally use your IP address to reach your NVR remotely. No router or DNS knowledge required.

Why it's easier than an IP address

An IP address like 81.2.69.142is fine for a machine to type — not so easy for a person to remember, copy correctly into a mobile app, or read out over the phone. A hostname reads the way you'd actually think about it: your own name, on our domain.

It also means you can set it up once in the NVRblink apps and never touch that setting again, no matter how many times your ISP reassigns your connection.
